Adverse possession

Regularize your property through possession

Adverse possession (usucapião) is the legal way to acquire ownership of a property through long and uninterrupted possession. In the extraordinary form, the period is 15 years, or 10 years if you live in the property or have made improvements to it (Brazilian Civil Code, art. 1,238); in the ordinary form, 10 years with a just title and good faith (Brazilian Civil Code, art. 1,242). We assist with the documentation, the court or out-of-court procedure, and the registration of the property at the registry office (cartório).
